Cliff Sayer and Darren Nutter recently attended the launch of the specifications aimed at standardising and creating best working practices for Milk Collection in the UK. Sayers Road Tankers are one of only two tank manufacturers approached for assistance, which speaks volumes for our position in the market and the value our customers place in our product knowledge and our technical knowledge. Sayers Road Tankers provided assistance to Dairy UK on construction and hygiene issues surrounding milk collection vehicles. The target weight of the trailer was a key issue in the specification and here at Sayers Road Tankers we have actively been driving down the weights of milk vehicles whilst retaining the structural integrity of the vehicles.
Hygiene issues concerning the cleaning of the trailers and trucks are another area that has a fixed minimum requirement laid down by the working group in conjunction with builders this was discussed and standards agreed. Many leading milk processors and hauliers have bought into the specifications and believe this is the way forward. The meeting was very positive and will ensure full red tractor accreditation.
The new specifications are likely to make milk equipment and its manufacture more uniform and lay clear guidelines’ down for everyone concerned. Many informative issues on the milk industry by visiting Dairy UK’s own website http://www.dairyuk.org/
